About AI Label Remover
AI Label Remover is a free, browser-based tool that removes the hidden metadata — C2PA Content Credentials, XMP, EXIF and IPTC — that platforms read when deciding to show a “Made with AI” or “AI info” label.
Why we built it
A lot of photos get an AI label for reasons that have little to do with how they were made. A single retouch with a generative tool, a background removed in an editor, or a file passed through an app that writes provenance data can leave tags behind that make the whole image read as AI-generated. We wanted a simple, private way to see what is actually inside a file and remove AI label metadata when it doesn’t belong there.
How it works
Everything happens in your browser. When you add a photo, the page reads the file on your device, lists the metadata it finds, and writes a copy without it. The image data itself is copied byte for byte rather than re-compressed, so quality doesn’t change. The colour profile is kept so colours look the same, and the orientation tag is kept so photos stay the right way up.
Your photos are never uploaded to our servers, and we never see them. You don’t need an account to use the tool.
What it can’t do
The tool only removes metadata. It can’t remove watermarks embedded in the pixels themselves, such as Google SynthID, and it can’t control how a platform labels content — a platform may still show a label based on its own detection or on what you disclose when posting. We don’t promise that any label will disappear.
It also isn’t meant for passing off AI-generated content as something else. If an image really was made with AI, the rules of the platform you post to and laws such as the EU AI Act may require you to say so. Please only use the tool on files you own or have permission to edit — see our Terms of Service for details.
Independence
AI Label Remover is an independent project. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by Adobe, Meta, TikTok, Google, OpenAI or any other company mentioned on this site; their names are used only to describe the metadata their products produce.
